World War II includes over 900 black-and-white photographs that provide a clear picture of the violent events between 1939 and 1945 during the greatest global conflict of all time.
David Boyle, British author and journalist, focuses in the first half of the book on the struggle in Europe, from the rise of racism to the liberation. The second half of the book focuses on Asia and the rise and fall of the Japanese Empire, from Japanese expansionism through the nuclear attack on the Japanese motherland and surrender.
Each major battlefield is covered, with “friend and foe” footage from the most renowned international archives such as the US National Archive in London and the US Navy Photographic Division in Washington DC.
